Matthew B is a Senior Consultant with over 12 years of experience in recruitment, digital communications, digital organizing, policy work, and narrative strategy. As a third-generation civil rights activist, he integrates a racial justice perspective into all his efforts. With New Working Majority, Matthew led the creation and instruction of a 6-week New Media for Union Members course for Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations. Strategic planning efforts for POWER Interfaith and strategic narrative efforts for Free the Ballot. Matthew’s work extends beyond messaging—how you communicate to your audience—leaning into narrative strategy and frameworks, and centering themes, frames, and ideas within your organization and messaging. He is also leading a 2025 Netroots Nation training on an organizational narrative-focused strategic framework.
Matthew led POWER Interfaith’s strategic planning during a change in leadership. He led the development of messaging frames & strategies for identified and agreed-upon issues and power-building efforts at the national and local level and delivered messaging samples/tools for those issues based on the framework, with variations for each issue area. He developed a 6-week New Media for Union Members training program, which includes narrative strategy, integrating communications and organizing efforts, and social media best practices.
With expertise in digital communication, Matthew has designed and led 38 digital messaging training sessions, helping high-impact organizations and individuals enhance their online presence and strategic messaging.
